You'd think after all these years we'd have at least a few decent RTS games that followed the same formula. Old School: SC 2, WC 3, Red Alert 2, C&C Generals, Act of War (better than Generals imo minus the SP campaign & lack of maps,) Age of Mythology, AoE 2 (hopefully 4 too.)ĬoH 1 was the True Successor to DoW 1 in terms of mechanics.

Some of the Top Standards to match for development: I wish the developers for Iron Harvest all the success int he world, but either a development team gets it or doesn't get it. So this smaller studio with a much smaller budget than say DoW 3 are not the only ones failing the True Hardcore RTS Fans. All Units mod, World at War mod, Advanced Powers mod.) In fact DoW 2 (&/or at least) Dow 3 should of played just like CoH 2.
#IRON HARVEST STEAM CHARTS MODS#
After all these years of good to great RTS examples of what works & what doesn't work for this niche genre the developers produced something so mediocre.ĪTM nothing can beat some of the awesome mods for CoH 2 (e.g. It is a fact that Iron Harvest is sub par. So much for true RTS fans or a loyal community. The very one's crying about changing the game ended up leaving the game high & dry. After getting the Re-Boot Version (simplified & dumbed down) within a few weeks they were no where to be found. It's not sad for the majority but for a super duper teeny tiny fan base that had some shouting on the roof top the day after this game was released "ha, told ya all this game rocked" based on the sales.Īlso to note that just like the "Shallow So-Called RTS Fans" that bashed Act of War (Original Version,) crying how it was too hard & too difficult to learn the game. It is a turn off to put in all that effort and time into completing them only for it not to be recognized. I like completing challenges but it is pointless for me to make any more attempts till they fix them. That's adding insult to injury.Įven for those who are only interested in single player, there are issues as well. It is better than playing whack a mole by spamming quickmatch imo.ĭon't get me started on the AI. I don't mind waiting 15 min in a queue if it means I will get matched with like minded people.

The system doesn't differentiate between pvp or vs ai so those looking for the former get dumped into the latter and vice versa, though they are more looking for pvp than vs ai. 1 hour of waiting in the lobby seeing one after another entering and leaving is soul draining. I have yet to get a single comp stomp with randoms going in IH and I have resigned myself to never getting one unless the devs change their matchmaking system. Only when I tried getting a random comp stomp in IH going did I truly appreciate just how invaluable such a function is. The simplicity of coh2's system to be able to queue up for it with just a press of a button is blessing that I took for granted. I have racked up over 2k hours in coh2 playing nothing(after completing campaign) but comp stomp over the years.
